The Redbird's story.

Blake walked back into the house carrying a broom. He set to the side.

"Good morning Momi!" Blake said as he sat down.

Mama nodded, she was cooking eggs over a fire in the hreath. They had a few chickens, so they could have eggs every now again.

Cora walked downstairs silently, smiling at her mom when she saw her.

Elliot continued sweeping silently.

Mama place made just enough eggs for the five of them and a slice of bread.

Blake sat down stareing at his food.

Cora sat down next to Blake. "Thank you, mama," she said.

Elliot finished sweepinig and went upstairs and made her bed. When she was done she walked back downstairs and went outside.

Blake began eatting in silence.

"Girls can you take the cloths to the river and wash them before you play today?" Momi Asked.

Cora nodded. "Yes, mama," she said, and began eating as well.

Elliot smiled and ran to the fields. She knew the Redbirds and Tyler would come when they could. She would wait for them. She lay down, looking up at the sky and finding shapes in the clouds, a smile on her face.

Momi sat down and began to eat her own food.

Tyler walked towards the feilds. His sisters husbands had told him go play. He wave when he saw Elliot. Unknown to him he still had lots of hay in his hair from sleeping in the hay something he offte did.

Layla nodded. "ok mama", she said and started eating as well.

Sally just nodded and ate her breakfast.

Elliot sat up when she heard footsteps. When she saw it was Tyler she waved, standing up. She stifled a laugh, seeing his hair.

Cora glanced over at Blake while she ate a few times but said nothing to him.

A piece of hay fell into his face and he frowned. That was the only problem with sleeping in the hay.

He sat a little way away from were Elliot was standing, and oce agaain tried to get out all the hay.

"Sounds boreing." Blake said "Can I stay home, Momi? Or go play?"

Elliot giggled and walked over to Tyler. She stood and picked a few pieces of hay out of his hair while he sat, still laughing slightly.

Cora glared at Blake slightly out of the corner of her eyes but continued to eat in silence.

Layla just kept eating. She heard what Blake said but didn't look up at him.

Sally ate without saying anything.

"No." Momi said. "You will help them."

"Blake nodded. "Yes, Momi."

"What's so funny?" Tyler asked. "It's only hay and it isn't the first time I came with it in my hair." But he was laguhing two.

Cora smirked slightly but kept her eyes on her plate. She finished eating a few moments later.

"You looked funny," Elliot said, still giggling. She pulled more out of his hair, dropping it on the grass.

Blake was already done and was waiting boredly.

"And you don't?" He asked reaching up and droping some in Elliots hair.

Sally finished shortly after Cora.

Layla finshed a few minutes after Sally.

"Hey!" Elliot protested, but she was laughing. "Fine then," she said, picking up the pieces she had picked off of Tyler and dropping them on his head before turning and running. "Can't catch meee!" She called over her shoulder, laughing.

Cora looked over at her mother, waiting for her to speak.

Momi waved her hand for them to go. "Get the cloths and go wash them." She said.

Tyler brushed some of the hay out of his hair and ran after Elliot, laguhing.

His legs were longer he easliy caught her.

"What was that last part?" He asked laguhing.

Layla nodded and put her plate in the sink and went upstairs to get some clothes to wash.

Sally nodded. "Yes mama", she said and put her plate in the sink and followed Layla upstairs and got a few clothes as well to wash.

Cora nodded and went upstairs after her sisters to get clothes.

Elliot laughed when Tyler caught her.

"Fine, you win!" She said, giggling.

Blake picked up a rope that his dad told him to tie knots in yesterday. He would take it with him. At that momet in tme he wasn't laning anything.

Tyler sat on the ground and went back to work on getting the hay out. "I really must stop sleeping in the hay."

Cora came back down with a small pile of her cltohes in her arms to wash. She saw Blake with the rope and raised an eyebrow, wondering what he was doing, but didn't ask.

Elliot giggled, sitting down next to him.

"Why do you?" She asked. "You have a nice bed to sleep in, after all," she said, pulling out another piece of hay from his red hair.

Tyler shruged. "I don't know I just do. I like it."

Blake needed to partice tieing knots anyhow so when they were busy he would pactice.

Layla came downstairs with a small pile of clothes and followed Cora.

Sally followed them she saw Blake withthe rope, but didn't ask.

Elliot laughed again. She lay back down on her back, looking up at the sky. She looked at the clouds that floated past, finding shapes in them again.

Cora walked to the door and opened it, walking outside when her sisters came downstairs.
