Sable caught her and helped her back up. They were shallow enough so she could reach. "You did good," He smiled at her.

Ashlyn turned away. "Go away," She croaked, her voice hoarse with tears. "This is all your fault."

Jade smiled, enjoying his praise.

"Is that fair?" Mason asked.

"Is anything??" Ashlyn asked, not looking up. She curled up tighter, closing her eyes tightly.

Sable realized then how dark it was out. He looked up at the moon and the stars for a moment, silently.

"No." Mason said. "I know that first hand, but why blame me for something I have nothing to do with?"

"Something wrong?" Jade asked.

Sable shook his head. "No," He said quietly, looking back at her with a small smile.

Ashlyn shrugged. "Dunno," She mumbled into her blankets.

"It's pretty, huh?" She suddenly asked, looking up at the night sky.

Mason sighed. "The world won't end tonight." He said.

Sable nodded. "Yeah," He said softly. "It is."

Ashlyn shook her head, tears blurring her vision. "The world's been ending for years for me," She whispered.

"What its not over yet." Mason pointed out.

Jade looked at him.

"Yet," Ashlyn mumbled simply, before falling into a restless sleep. She turned on her side to face him, and all the pain she was feeling and had been hiding for so long was evident.

Sable smiled down at her, and wrapped his arms around her.

"Aww! That's so sweet!" Damon said, "Now... What to do now?" he asked himself, "It will be awhile." he said with glee.

"Take us back!!" Cora shouted. "Rose will find us sooner or later," She added.

"Doubtful." Damon muttered, "Carlisle cell phone got smashed when I threw him and she has no clue where you are. Good luck with that one."

Carlisle attempted getting up once more but was stopped by Damon's foot slamming him into the ground.

Jade only clung to him. "I love you." She whispbered.

Ashlyn turned back to face the other way, eyes closed tightly.

Cora felt frozen by indecision. When he slammed Carlisle to the ground again, she grabbed his arm.

"Get off of him!!" She shouted. "Take us back!!"

"Give me a reason." Damon said bluntly. He walked away from Carlisle and leaned against a wall once more. "So you two can have a happy family? We all know that he's staying, they wouldn't turn him back, he didn't deserve it in the first place." His voice was bitter, "I think nearly every man from our day is a demon now, we all were forced to kill. Only very few truly liked it."

"And why is it your decision to make?" Cora demanded. "He didn't kill because he wanted to; you don't know what they'll decide!" She shouted. "He does deserve to stay. Way more than you ever could! You don't understand a thing, do you??" She asked.

"I do understand that you changed him! The Carlisle I knew didn't care for people!" Damon retorted, "I killed him when he grew weak and it's happening again. He is weak and that is no good." he said.

Carlisle was growing pale suddenly, he couldn't breath his ribs a punctured a lung.

Cora ran over to Carlisle when her eyes fell on him, and knelt down next to him. "Carlisle?" She whispered. She lifted his head slowly and placed it in her lap, brushing his hair out of his face. He couldn't breathe.

"Take us back! You're killing him!" She shouted, looking up at Damon.

Damon looked at his brother growing weaker by the second. He frowned as he looked up at Cora and walked over to them. He set a hand on his brother's arm and the Cora's, "The only way he'll live is if you get Carmen..." he said before disappearing from the cave and reappeared on their bed, "Good luck with that." he then disappeared again.

Rose felt their appearances once more and ran up the stairs, "Is he okay?!" she asked as she entered their room and saw the color of his face.

"What are you---" Cora started, but he was gone. She looked down at Carlisle, then back up at Rose. She shook her head, tears in her eyes.

"No," She said quietly. "Do you know where Carmen is??" She asked quickly.

Rose nodded quickly and disappeared, she was in heaven looking for Carmen.

Carlisle looked up at Cora, "Apparently.... I worry.... You.... Often...." he said weakly.

"No, no," She whispered, brushing a strand of his hair behind his ear. "You don't. I'm sorry," She whispered, tears pooling in her eyes. She didn't understand what Carmen could do. He needed to get to a hospital.

Rose soon reappeared with Carmen. "Can you fix him?" she asked her.

Carmen quickly assessed, "It will be hard but I can fix the lung and the ribs poking at it. You'll have to get him to a doctor after that..." she muttered, "Do you mind?" she asked Cora.

Carlisle said nothing, he felt himself growing weaker. The little amount of air he could take in was becoming shallower.

Cora looked at Carmen when she appeared, and shook her head. "No, just...help him," She whispered.

Carmen nodded and put a hand under his shirt and on his chest. She gave him an apolegetic look as he winced from the pressure. In a matter if seconds she removed her hand and backed off. "Just don't let him move much, it might ruin what I did." she said.

Carlisle took a deep breath ad let it out in a sigh of relief.
