The big city.

"Aww how gross..." a voice said from across the room.

Carlisle opened one eye to look at Damon, he closed it once more and set his cheek gently on Cora's head. "Can I help you Damon?" he asked calmly.

"Where's Rose?" he asked him bluntly.

"Like I keep tabs on people." Carlisle responded.

"Yeah right..." Damon scoffed

"I like to know where and how Cora is, Damon. There's a difference." Carlisle's voice didn't change nor did he move.

"Idiot..." Damon muttered.

"Says the man who can't find the girl he loves to the man who is holding his wife in his arms." Carlisle said and his grip tightened softly on her.

"Are you sure you love this idiot?" Damon asked Cora.

Cora opened her eyes at the sound of a voice. She was wide awake now. She watched as the two went back and forth, and when a question was directed at her, she just glared at him, keeping her mouth closed.

Laurinda smiled slightly. "I haven't had a friend in so long," She said quietly.

Lance smiled.

"You know we should call the police." Lance said.

Carlisle sighed and opened his eyes, he moved one arm from around her and stretched lightly before putting it back to it's former position. "Go Damon." he said defiantly to his older brother.

"Give me a reason." Damon stated.

"Because you make Cora unhappy, which makes me unhappy. That will result in me kicking your butt, which will make Rose unhappy." he responded.

"Do you really want to relive your death? Then I'll be wide open to make her life terrible." he said refering to Cora.

Carlisle let Cora go and moved off the bed. Anger was rolling off of him as he rushed towards his brother and pinned him against the wall. "What was that?" he asked.

Damon couldn't breath, Carlisle's arm was held against his neck.

Laurinda froze. "About what?" She asked.

Cora jumped up and ran after Carlisle. She grabbed the back of his shirt. "Get off, Carlisle," She said. "He's not worth it, please," She said, attempting to pull him off.

Carlisle pushed Damon further against the wall, "You are so lucky..." he said before releasing him and backing away.

Damon coughed as he was able to breath again.

"We have to tell them what your unlke did." Lance said.

"No!" Laurinda said quickly. She took a step back. "I mean, I---I can't," She said quietly. "He told me that if I ever told anyone, he would..." She shook her head, turning away, tears in her eyes.

Cora sighed in relief, and let go of Carlisle. "Just ignore him," She said quietly. "He's not worth it," She repeated.

"He isn't here." Lance said. "He can't hurt you, and will never be able to hurt anyone again if you trun him in."

"They have money, Lance," She said. "And friends. I'm amazed he hasn't found me yet," She said quietly. "I can't."

Anger was still rolling off of Carlisle. His fists were clenched by his side and his jaw was locked. He nodded at Cora quickly and turned away from Damon.

Damon smiled widely before he disappeared

"You forget." Lance said. "I'm a Sparrow." He said. "Not only am I a Sparrow, I amk Lance Link Sparrow. I too have money and frinds, but I also have infulence, and my father's scary repution."

"But I'm scared," Laurinda mumbled. Never before would she have said this to anyone. "I have nightmares. That he's there, to hurt me again." She lifted her sleeve, and pointed to a large scar running up her arm. "That's from when he got drunk, more than usual, and threw his bottle at me. I blocked my face, but this is what happened," She said quietly. She pushed her sleeve back down. "And there's more," She said quietly. She turned around, and lifted her shirt just high enough to show her lower back. There was another scar there, larger than the last. It ran around to the front of her stomach.

Cora looked at Carlisle once Damon was gone, her face laced with worry. "Carlisle..." She said slowly. "I'm so sorry. I didn't realize any of this was happening while I was gone," She said quietly. "I....I feel awful," She mumbled.

"I won't let him touch you." Lance said. "He won't even know where you are."

Laurinda lowered her shirt, keeping her back to him. She felt a tear roll down her cheek, and quickly wiped it away with the back of her hand. She had never cried in front of anyone before, and she wasn't about to start now. Tears were a sign of weakness.

Carlisle looked at her, his features softening once more. He set a hand on her cheek carefully and gave her a small smile, "Don't feel awful. It's not your fault." he told her, "You're back and that's what matters." his voice was soft as well, surprising even himself with his attitude change

Layla ignored Lenora's glare, and walked out into the water behind Bailey.

Bailey had seen Layla, and was trying to get as far away from her as possible, by swimming in the water. She didn't notice that Layla was following her yet.

Alice frowned when she saw Layla.

Lance turned her around. "What do you want me to do? Hpw can I help you?" He asked.

James stepped in the water.

Bailey looked back for a moment to see how far she was from the shore adn saw Layla close behind her, and swam as fast as she could away from her, but she was also being pulled with the current.

Layla went into the water completely and started to swiminstead of walk on teh ocean floor that she could still reach.

Lenora sighed in annoyance, and went after Layla, invisible to all, even James.

Cora smiled slightly at his sudden change in attitude, then nodded. "Yeah," she said quietly. "Thanks."

Laurinda shrugged. "The best way for me to help you is to get out of here," She mumbled. "I'm listed as a missing person, though I think they gave up on finding me a long time ago," She said.

"I don't want you to help me." Lance said. "I want to help you. Tell me how."

Carlisle nodded, "I mean it, okay? I don't want you to feel bad." he moved a few inches closer to her, "Especially if I can do this again and know you'll still be here." he kissed her tenderly when he finished speaking.

Bailey looked back again an didn't see the wave that was coming and got knocked under, she came back up coughing but another wave knocked her under again.

Layla went under water when the came, and stayed under when the second one had passed.

Alice was sitting on the sand looking at the water. She wasn't paying attention to what was going to with Bailey.

"I don't know!" Laurinda shouted. She had her hands in fists at her sides. "I don't know."

Lenora saw Bailey get pulled under, and made herself visible to her. She held her breathe before diving under the water. She wrapped her arm around her waist and pulled her back up, struggling to hold her above the waves and get closer to shore at the same time.

Cora nodded slowly, and felt her lips curl up into a smile as she kissed him back.

Layla came back up and turned around in the water and saw that Lenora had Bailey. She sawm over to her and Lenora. "Need help?", she asked holding onto Bailey as well and swimming next to them.

Bailey was startled when she felt someone grapped her but relaxed when she was above water again and saw that it was Lenora.
