The big city.

Layla glared down at James and put her knee on his back and pressed down alittle.

James' face twisted in pain, but he said nothing.

Layla eventually got off him. "you're so stuborn, I don't know why I bother to argue", she said and started to walk off towards his house again.

Lenora ran upstairs as her pendant began to glow. She threw the door open just as Layla got off of him.

"Are you crazy?" She shouted at her, but had a feeling she knew the answer already. "Are you okay, James?" She asked quietly, getting ready for more yelling from him, probably directed at her this time.

"Excuse me!" Elliot shouted. "I mean, all you did was kill the boy I cared about! I watched you slowly kill him, day by day, and no matter what I did I could not save him!" She yelled. "Excuse me for thinking you're evil because of that!"

Hymn soon began to get her footing, and she laughed. It was amazing, being able to do this and not hurt someone for once.

Ashlyn had just exited the house, and jumped when she heard Mason. Great. She didn't ditch him.

"I'm taking a walk," She mumbled, closing her eyes and making her way down the street. Soon, she came to a graveyard on the right. Her blood ran cold, and she hesitated before finally taking a deep breathe and walking in.

She passed by several rows of graves, and with each step she had to resist the strong urge to turn and run. Finally, she came to one that stood out from all the others, at least to her. She knelt down next to it, and wiped the dirt off of the name, until she could read it again. Abigail Marie Mister.

James frowned. "I'm fine." He said clamly.

"I didn't say I wasn't evil. I said not everyone I killed was on purpose." Jake said, annoyed.

Chris smiled. "You should laugh more ofen." He said, then started humming again.

Mason followed silently.

Lenora blinked in surprise. He wasn't angry. There was a first.

"Well, I'm staying here for a while," She said quietly, taking a seat by his door. "To make sure she doesn't come back."

Elliot glared at him. "Oh, not everyone!" She said sarcastically. "Right. Okay, then that makes it all okay!" She spat.

Hymn smiled slightly at him, and nodded. She kept herself close to him, trying to keep up the dance and not hurt him again.

Ashlyn didn't know Mason was still there. If she did, she never would have done what she did next.

"I'm sorry, mom," She whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek. "I let you down. I'm sorry."

Layla rolled her eyes at Lenora. "I wasn't trying to kill him, he was just annoying me...", she mumbled, and walked back over to the window, and looked outside.

After dinner Alice went upstairs and into her room, she looked around then sat on her bed.

Brownie had followed her up and sat in front of her and barked at her wagging his tail.

"If it hurts then why do you do it?" Damon asked, he and Carlisle were back at the Moore house. They sat on the front porch talking.

"What do you mean?" Carlisle asked, it had been quiet up until Damon spoke he had no clue what he was talking about.

"I mean love. Why do humans fall in love if it hurts them in the end?" Damon asked.

"It only hurts part of the time." Carlisle said

"But why deal with any hurt if you don't have to?"

"Because all the good times are greater than the bad." Carlisle told him quietly

"How could anything make up for this?" Damon asked confused.

"It's not like that Damon." Carlisle said bluntly.

"Explain it to me" Damon demanded.

"Fine. The first time I held her in my arms. The first time my lips met hers. The first time she said she loved me. All of those seemingly small things all have made me ecstatic. I'm hers and no one else's and the feeling I get when I'm close to her makes it all worth it." Carlisle told him.

"Wow... You have gone soft." Damon said.

"I was never the monster you were Damon. You let others die for you. You let Annabell die and then killed me. You deserve to be a demon." Carlisle said.

"And what do you deserve?" Damon asked.

"It's not about what I deserve anymore." Carlisle told him, "It's about what she deserves."

Mason leaned down and wipped the tear away. "I'm sure you didn't."

Suddenly she was pinned against the wall. "I did not kill my brother on prupse." He spat. "First kills are almost never on porpse."

Chris smiled stangely.

A few of his drawings were of people danceing, through their postions and faces were creepy.

Suddenly those drawings seemed to be danceing as well.

Ashlyn hit his hand away, stumbling to her feet. "You don't know anything!" She yelled. "Why did you follow me here, anyways?!" She demanded.

Elliot flinched as her back hit the wall. Her wings hurt, so bad. She refused to show it, and instead glared at him. She was silent.

Hymn looked around the room; although some of the drawings were creepy, she liked them. And it all seemed so perfect right now.

Mason was silent. The anwser was obvious.

Jake dropped her, and disappered.

"Illousones." Chris said, as the cave disappeared, and seemed tobe in a ballroom. "They can be fun."

Layla smirked when She saw the guy's car drive up into driveway at Alice's hosue. "Hey James, the guy's back", she said not looking back just watching the guy get ou tof his car holding a package.

Hymn looked around, eyes wide. She looked at him, and smiled. "You're right," She said quietly.

Lenora frowned. "What guy?" She asked, standing up and walking over to the window.

Elliot flinched as she hit the ground. She looked around the now empty cave, and Ellie's face flashed by in her mind.

"I hate you, please just go away!" Ashlyn yelled, complete lies. She turned and began to walk away when someone appeared in front of her. She stumbled back, and Lee sighed.

"Two times today," She mumbled. "Come on," She said, and took each of them by an arm and disappeared. Ashlyn looked around when the world finally stopped spinning, feeling sick. She had no idea where they were, or even who this girl was.

Layla looked at Lenora when she came over. "the guy that was with Alice earlier when she came back from the hospital", she said then looked back out the window.

The guy walked up to the door and knocked.

Savanna opened the door and looked at him. "Yes?", she asked.

"hi, I'm here to drop off the bandages for Alice's wound, since it isn't fully healed yet", he said smiling.

She nodded and stepped aside. "Please come in, Alice is upstairs", she said closing the door behind him and went back to washing the dishes.

James frowned. "I don't care." But he did. "It's not like she is going to dump me for him."

Chris laughed. The room kept changeing, each seen more beautiful then the last.

Mason didn't etier, but he gasped. In front of them was a younger verison of himself. He was five, and laying in a hosptail bed. The doctors were rushing around. His heart had just stopped beating. They were tring to shock him back to life.

"You're so stupid," Lenora sighed. "You're jealous, aren't you?" She asked.

Hymn's eyes grew even wider with each scene. She smiled up at him.

Ashlyn soon realized what they were looking at. Her eyes grew wide, and she closed her eyes tightly, looking away.

Layla looked back at James. "Are you sure she won't dump you?", she asked.

Eddie nodded and walked up stairs. He looked around at the doors wondering which one was Alice's then saw a door that was open and went in he knocked on the door before fully coming in. "hey", he said smiling at her.

Alice looked from Brownie who was next to her. "Hi", she said smiling back.

"I brought the stuff for your wound", he said and came into her room and set it on her bed.

James looked away, not saying anything.

Chris finally stopped back in the cave. He stopped danceing.

The sence changed. It was a year later he was six. He was in the hosptail agian. His mom was cring.

He was asleep, unnatraully. "He should be fine now." The doctor said. "He should be dead, though, I didn't expect him to make it through night. His blood sugar was awfully high. He was moments from death.

Mason sighed. He looked at his wrists. They were tried down. They had to do that because the night before he kept ripping the tudes out.

Hymn kept her arms around him, even as he stopped dancing.

Lenora glared at Layla. "Shut up," She hissed.

Ashlyn looked at him in the hospital bed, shaking her head back and forth. He didn't deserve this. How much of his life was spent in a hospital?

Layla looked at Lenora. "I was jsut asking!", she snapped. She walked over to James and grabbed his arm and disappeared and appeared in Alice's room make herself and James invisible and unhearable to everyone. "I'm letting you spy on Alice without her knowing, so stay still or she'll see you", she said.

Alice and Eddie were just talking at first on Alice's bed. Eddie suddenly leaned over and kissed Alice. She was suprised at what he had just done, so she didn't pull back right away, but then she pull back looking at him, not knowing what to say.

James had to resit the urge to rush forward and pull Eddie away from her.

It changed again. He was in the hostal again. It was a few years later. Two little girls sat on the bed stareing wide as he told them stories.

Chris smiled. "Do you ever wonder what might happen if we both human?"

Lenora cried out as Layla took him away, but she didn't move fast enough. They were gone.

"Who are they?" Ashlyn said quietly, looking at the older Mason standing next to her.

Hymn looked up at him. "What do you mean?" She asked quietly.

Alice was silent for a while, she was about to say something when Eddie kissed her again. This time she pushed him back. "no", she said.

"What's wrong?", he asked looking at her curiously.

She shook her head. "I can't", she said looking at him.

Layla looked at James. "You can yell if you want, she can't hear either of us at the moment", she said.

"I don't want to yell, I wantto kill him." James said.

The two girls look exatly alike. They were five, he was ten. "Dorthy and Marybeth."

Then the sence changed. He was 11 now, this time he wasn't in the hosptail. He was in a grave yard. Marybeth was holding his hand cring. Dorthy laid in the casket, dead.

Mason looked away.

It changed again. He was 12. Lance was standing in front of him. He was on the ground. Lance was protecting him fromhis own father. It changed again; this one showed Peter's death. It changed again. He was in the hosptail once more, his appendix had almost brusted. Again it changed. He was in the hosptail again; the doctors told his mom he needed a new heart. It changed a few more times; showing more of his dad's beatings. It changed again he was 15 here, the doctors dionosed him with cancer. A few months later it show the doctors telling him it was gone. It changed a few more times; more of the beating.

The next sence showed him as 16. He was wearing a Dexter school unifrom. Dexter was one of the hardest boreing schools to get into. It was late, and he was with a girl, she smiled at him and kissed him. He pulled back, and shock his head, he took a step back and left. He didn't like her like that.

Chris smiled. "It's nothing."

Ashlyn cried out each time she watched his father hit him. She knew this had happened, but seeing it close up made her shudder. All the hospital visits, all the pain he had gone through, both physical and emotional....she understood now, why he had run away in the first place. She saw him in his school uniform, and her eyes widened slightly as the girl kissed him. She looked away; she didn't want to see that, not now. It was stupid, but she was jealous...jealous of his past. He was dead, for crying out loud. She couldn't seriously have feelings for someone who was dead. But she did.

She shook her head back and forth; she couldn't take anymore of this. "Please stop," She moaned, but Lee didn't seem to hear her, and if she did, she didn't listen.
