The big city.

Andrea gave him a strange look, a mixture of disturbance and annoyance, along with disapproval.

Then she turned back to Cora, as if examining her for any flaws. Cora was silent under her gaze, until finally Andrea smiled slightly at her.

Carlisle looked at Cora with an affectionate smile. "Do you like her?" he asked his mother curiously, not that it mattered really.

Andrea just nodded lightly.

"She's very pretty," she said, which made Cora blush lightly. "Though I don't know why she'd pick you."

The last part made Cora's hands curl into tight fists at her sides, and it took all her self-restraint not to yell at this woman.

Carlisle's hand gripped one of hers and and tried to uncurl it. "The point is is that she did." he said calmly.

"Do you want me to tell him to go home, because I can't. He's strubbon, and has a tendace a bringing up things that doesn't need to be spoken." Lance said.

"Like him wakeing in to your hospatail room in time to see you try to kill yourself?" Blake asked.

Lance glared at him. "Yes." He said. "I just want see if he's takng care of hisself." He frowned. "Most likely not if he's putting salt on his pizza."

He raise an eyebrow, and let go of Jade. He stood up slowly. "Your face says it all." He said. "Tell me, why her?" He sounded confused.

"What's wrong?" Noah asked. He looked worried. "Did something happen?"

Ashlyn frowned at the mention of Lance trying to kill himself, but said nothing about it.

"I don't care what you do with him, you just shouldn't force him to do anything," She said. "Though I'd love him out of my house," she scoffed. A lie. She was looking at Blake strangely, remembering him from the night with the ferris wheel. How did he make her do things?

Sable looked back at her father, looking equally confused.

"What do you mean, why?" He asked, slowly remembering all the things that Jade had told him.

Ava shook her head, biting her lip to keep it from quivering with unshed tears.

"No, I'm fine," She said, though her voice gave her away. She tried to smile at him nontheleses. "How have you been?" She asked.

Cora slowly relaxed, though she was still tense. Andrea didn't seem to notice, having eyes only for her son now.

"Where's your father?" She asked suddenly, completely forgetting about the previous subject. She was looking around nervously, as if he might pop out of nowhere at any moment.

"Not available right now. Why? Do you not want to see him?" Carlisle asked her.

"Not particularly. He never came to see me, either!" Andrea said. Cora frowned.

"Yet again, DEMON! We aren't usually accepted in your little paradise that is called Heaven." Carlisle said

Andrea didn't seem to hear him, and if she did, she didn't listen.

Cora had taken his hand to try and calm him down without using any words.

Carlisle began to calm down at her touch. He didn't speak any more, worried that he would yell more and displease his mother.

Rose was about to calm him with her powers but suddenly felt no reason to, his anger and helplessness melted away in an instant.

Cora sighed. She didn't understand his mother at all. She didn't let go of his hand, and upon seeing this, Andrea's frown deepened, if that was even possible.

"Well, I've met her," His mother said, turning back to her son. "Was this all you needed? May I leave now?'

Cora's anger was rekindled. What was wrong with this woman?? If her mom was here, she knew she wouldn't be acting this way. Much less her dad. She tried to keep her face clear and happy, but annoyance was slowly showing through.

"You're the one who asked to come here. If you want to leave you are more than welcome to." Rose snapped from her spot in the chair. She stood up and crossed the room to stand near Andrea. Anger was all over her face and it was quickly growing.

Carlisle was unable to speak, he still couldn't believe that after all this time his mother still acted this way.

Andrea gave her son one last look, of slight annoyance and great disapproval, before disappearing.

Cora finally relaxed when she was gone, but she was mumbling something under her breath.

Carlisle seemed to shrink down in size when his mother left, leaving him more like a shell of Carlisle rather then the real one. Rose turned to him and looked at him in worry, attempting to use her powers but with no avail. "Carlisle, are you okay?" she asked. No answer came from his lips as he stood there.

Lance frowned. "I never said I was."

Blake sighed and looked around.

"Why would you love a danger prone mute?" He asked dully.

Noah frowned, and crossed gis arms, and gave her a werid look. "Your not a good lier." He said. "Now tell me."

Leon crossed his arms, he was bored, and he wanted to see his sister, but somehow he didn't think she wanted to see him.

Chris was walking down the the halls of the underworld. He had a piaece of chalk. Altrough he never derw anything were others could see them, it wasn't uncommon to see lines on the walls from were he walked with the chalk pressed against the wall, what he was doing now.

He wasn't paying attion and he suddenly ran into Hymn. They both fell to the ground. He quickly sat up, but couldn't help laguhing. The chalk had been crushed, and now Hymn was covered in the powder that had went everywere.

"Well, he went to the bathroom," Ashlyn gestured over her shoulder. "No one's stopping you from going to talk to him."

A flash of anger crossed Sable's eyes, but it was gone just as fast.

"Why not?" He asked. "I don't care if she's danger prone, or if she's mute," He said. "None of that matters."

"It's just----" Ava didn't want to burden him. She smiled at him, a real one this time. "No, it's not important," She said. She was just glad to get her mind off of it for a while. Off of Blake.

Hymn hadn't been paying attention, and didn't see Chris until he knocked her over. She landed with an 'oof!' on the ground, and coughed as the chalk dust rose to her mouth. She almost had to laugh, remembering all the times she had crushed his chalk when he was younger, and she had to help look after him. Well, she wasn't /always/ forced to, but she did for some reason.

She looked down at the fine white powder all over her black dress, and glared at him. She could feel it on her face as well, and knew how silly she must look, white as a ghost. She quickly stood up, still glaring at him, though she wasn't really angry. It sure looked like it, though, and she did her best to keep it that way.

Any trace of anger was gone from Cora's face upon seeing Carlisle, and she quickly dropped his hands and turned to face him, placing both hands on his cheeks and forcing him to look at her.

"Carlisle...?" She asked, her face full of concern.

Carlisle looked back at her, eyes blank. He was unable to quite grasp why his mother hated him this much.

Rose looked at him worried further, her power still not working, he was too far into self pity at this point. "Carmen!" she shouted into the kitchen and Carmen and Ashley ran out.

"Oh boy." was all Carmen said before grabbing his wrist. She disappeared with him as Rose grabbed both Ashley and Cora. The reappeared upstairs where Carmen had Carlisle already on the bed, she sat beside him. He glared up at the ceiling, eyes still blank. "I don't know how to solve this one... this may not be simple. Is only had one of these once before, when he married me but refused anything else beyond that. His parents frowned upon it and told him so, it resulted in this and it took awhile to snap out of it." Carmen told them. "But now he has someone to live for, perhaps it won't be so bad this time." She then stood up, and walked out, followed by Ashley.

"I'm sorry I can't fix this one." Rose said sadly.

Cora sat down next to Carlisle, her face a mixture of concern for Carlisle, anger at his mother, anger at herself for not seeing this coming, and helplessness for being unable to help him.

She listened half-heartedly to Carmen, and just nodded, though it was obvious her thoughts were elsewhere as she gazed at Carlisle.

"It's okay," Cora said quietly, once Ashely and Carmen were gone, reluctantly taking her eyes off of Carlisle to look at her.

"I'll stay with him," She said quietly, as if it weren't obvious already.

Rose nodded before fading out of the room.

Carlisle's hand reached out for Cora's, wanting to be close to someone who loved him. He still didn't tear his gaze from the ceiling.

Cora finally looked back at Carlisle once Rose was gone. She didn't know what to do, what to say. But when he reached for her hand, she took his, and held tightly. If this was all she could do, then she would. She was watching him, racking her brain for words to say, but none come.

Carlisle's gaze finally tore form the ceiling, his eyes still blank. He looked at Cora with a small frown, "I'm an idiot." was all he said.

Cora sighed.

"No, you're not," She said quiety. "You never were, you aren't, and you never could be," She whispered, looking into his eyes, trying to reassure him that what she was saying was true. She was angry at his mother for making him this way, but her anger was short-lived, for she was only worried about him right now.

"Then why does she hate me? My own mother hates me..." Carlisle said quietly

Cora didn't have an answer for that.

"I don't think she hates you," She said quietly, placing her other hand on top of his. "I'm not sure what her problem is, but weather or not she'd admit it, she loves you. She is your mom, after all," She said quietly. She sighed, and looked away for a moment before meeting his eyes again.
