The Redbird's story.

"That young?" Robert was kinda shocked.

Cora nodded. "Yes," She said quietly as they continued walking.

Elliot was inside, scrubbing the floors with the water from the well.

"Did your father just up and leave?" Robert aske a;through it wasn't any of his bussiness.

Cora winced and looked away.

"No," She said quietly. "He........died," She said, not wanting to tell him he died a thief's death.

Blake placed the buckets of water in front of the house. The bath was in open area inside the house. This was water for Cora's bath, she would have to take it in her self. "Will this be enough?" Blake asked Cora

Robert didn't say anything.

Cora nodded and walked over to Blake and stood next to where the buckets were. She smiled slightly at Robert.

"Thank you for your help," She said.

Robert nodded and set the buckets down and truned to leave.

Cora watched him turn to leave. He seemed.....nice. Unlike most of the boys around here. She hoped she could see him again.

"Hurry Cora." Blake said handing her a bucket. "You stink."

Cora took the bucket and glared at Blake. She hit him in the arm before turning to go inside.

Blake laguhed sightley before walking away.

Robert was still close enough to here this, he frown. Were he was from people didn't insult there sisters like that.

Cora poured the buckets of water into the tub before pulling all the empty ones inside. She saw Robert still walking away and smiled and waved before walking inside and closing the door behind her.

Esther stood at the end of the path. SHe waved at her brother before trunning and runinng back to their new home. robert walked after her.

Cora quickly undressed and got into the wooden tub.

Elliot soon finished her chores inside and went down to the lake and began washing clothes.

Esther ulled her brother along as she went to the river.

Elliot looked up as she saw a boy and girl she had never seen before.

'I wonder who they are,' She thought as she went back to washing.

"Esther why are we here?" Robert asked.

"I want to find some shallows in the river." She didn't know that here there wasn't any shallows.

Elliot looked up when she heard the girl.

"There aren't any," she said, standing up.

"there isn't?" Esther asked surpised.

Elliot shook her head.

"Nu-uh," She said, wiping her hands on her dress. She held one out.

"I'm Elliot," She said.

Esther took her hand. "Esther, and this nitwit is my brother Robert."

Robert nodded.

"It's nice to meet you. Did you just come here?" Elliot asked, kneeling back down by the riverbank and continuing to wash her clothes while she talked to them. She didn't have many manners.

"Yes," robert said. "We came from over 300 miles."

"Wow!" Elliot said, looking up at them. "What brings you here then?" She asked, still washing her clothes.

"Our grandfather died." Esther replied.
