The Redbird's story.

Cora stood up as well, her book under one arm.

Elliot soon finished her chores but stayed inside.

"Can we go home now?" He asked

"You can," Cora said. "I'm not."

Blake nodded and started walking home.

Cora watched Blake go, still standing near the lake.

Blake- 15
Robert- 16
Tyler- 18

Blake looked up when he hread the sound of a hrose comeing towards him and Cora. They were on their way back from the well, he held to buckets of water. He stepped to the side of the road.

A hrose was indeed comeing this way. Their was agorl that looked to be about 14 on it, along as some bags tied to the sadle. Three people walked next to it.

A mother, a father, and a son who looked to be about 16.

The girl was complaning.

"Esther." Her brother said. "You are rideing a hrose, you did now have to walk almost 300 miles, so hush."

Cora looked up as well, holding two buckets of water. She looked at the girl on the horse and the boy and parents walking.

'I wonder who they are.....' she thought. She watched the boy for a moment. He looked about their age. She set the buckets down for a moment, pushing a strand of wet hair behind her ear as she was sweating. She picked the buckets back up and waited for the horse and the others to pass.

Elliot kicked the door of her room angrily.

"Mama..." She whispered. "You're going to kill yourself if you don't stop this!!" She sighed and began her daily chores, still worried about her mom. She had collapsed a few times from exhaustion, and wouldn't stop working so hard.

Elliot was still good friends with Tyler, though she wasn't supposed to be associating with him anymore, as it was deemed 'inappropriate'. She didn't care. She still missed the Redbirds greatly. And somewhere along the line she had fallen in love with Blake, though she didn't know this yet. She still didn't understand her feelings. She walked outside and towards the well, holding three empty buckets in her hands. She had grown considerably taller and looked much more like a young lady than a young kid, though she hadn't matured exactly much.

Robert was getting tired of his sisters compalning. 300 miles of it was alot. over two months. All because his Grandfether,who he never met, died, and they were takeing up his home.

He looked at the Redbird siblings.

His mrther frowned, when she saw Cora carring buckets of water. Were they were from young ladies didn't do work like that.

"Robert." She said stopping

"Yes?" He said looking at his morther.

Cora didn't like the way the woman was looking at her, but she tried to ignore it.

Elliot started humming to herself as she walked towards the well. Once there she filled all three buckets up and started off again, struggling to hold them up and not spill them.

"Have I thought you no manners?" His morther asked.

"You thaught him tons, moma" The girl said with a gigle. "But he;s too much of a nitwit to use them."

"Yes, morther you have." Robert said inogering Esther.

His farther kept walking.

"You see a female doing a boys job, and do not offer to help?" She wasn't pleased.

Blake frowned when Robert did offer to help. "No, Cora can handle it, I'm sure."

"No, I insiste that he helps." She said as she strat to walk away. "I shall have your sister standing at the end of the forset path so you know were to go when you are done." She told him as the hrose follewd her.

Cora sighed. She could handle it just fine, but if he wanted to help then fine.

"Hello, ...." Cora trailed off, realizing she didn't know his name.

Elliot tripped over an upturned root in the road and fell over, the three buckets falling out of her grasp and into the air, landing on top of her and soaking her. One of the buckets landed on her head and she lay on the ground, mumbling something from underneath it.

Tyler pulled the bucket off Elliots head, laguhing. "Even I know you sould only do two at a time."

Blake frowed, but said nothing.

"Robert Adams." Robert replied. "And you?"

Elliot grinned sheepishly at Tyler.

"I wanted to get done faster," she said simply. She stood up and picked up the other two now empty buckets, wringing out her soaking dress.

"Cora Redbird," Cora said with a small smile. "And this is my brother, Blake," She said.

Robert nodded and took the buckets. "I am sorry. Morther believes women sould nothave to do chores such as this."

"Well you would if you slowed down, 'cause now you have to make a second trip." Tyler said.

Elliot stuck her tongue out at Tyler and took the other empty bucket from him.

"Wanna come with?" She asked.

Cora shrugged. "It's not that big of a deal. Besides, it's not like I have much of a choice," She added.

"No, I can't. I have to do some chores of my own." Tyler said.

Blake started to walk.

Robert wited for Cora.

Elliot frowned.

"Okay," She said. "But you have to come visit me later!" She called over her shoulder as she took off in a run back towards the well.

Cora smiled slightly and started to walk, a bit slowly so as to keep pace with Robert.

"So, what brings you here?" She asked him curiously. "Not many people move here."

"My grandfather died. About a year ago. My farther decide to take his cottage, condering here we be much better off then were we come from" Robert anwsered.

"I will." Tyler said, and he would, he loved Elliot, but he knew by the way she looked at Blake while sying on him that she loved blake.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Cora said quickly as they walked. "My father died when I was younger," She added quietly.

Elliot filled up two of the buckets, carrying the other empty one and started back to her cottage.

"So you have another brother takeing care of the family?" He asked he didn't think Blake was the head of the family.

"That would be me." Blake said over his shoulder.

Cora rolled her eyes at her brother.

"He doesn't do a very good job," She whispered to Robert.

Elliot made it back to her cottage with the buckets without spilling them this time, though she was still soaking wet.

Robert nodded. "I can tell." He whispbered back.

Cora smirked slightly and kept walking.

"How long, has he been the hed of the family?" He asked.

"Since he was 7," Cora whispered. "But he still acts like he's that age."
