The big city.

Ashlyn shook her head. "I'm not crying," She protested. "I have no reason to."

She finally looked up, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "I'm such an idiot," She said quietly. "I thought that maybe...." She shook her head. "No, it doesn't matter now."

She pulled her bag closer to herself, and slipped on a jacket. The house was drafty, though, and she was freezing. She pulled the hood over her head to cover her face. She didn't need him to see her like this; she didn't need anyone to see her like this.

Hymn was pulled out of her memories by his words. "Thanks," She said quietly. "I'm glad at least someone think so," she said quietly, resting her head on his chest.

Chris smiled.

---The Next Morning----

Ashlyn was awake and outside. She looked up at the place she used to call home for the last time.

"Bye, mom," She said quietly, before slinging her bag over her shoulder. She was determined to start over; she wouldn't let Mason bug her. She had one year of school she technicall was supposed to go to, and she would find her own school. She was 18, and was legally an adult. Her father couldn't keep her at home anymore.

She had cried herself to sleep the night before, and refused to go through that ever again. She wouldn't fall for anyone, ever again. Especially not Mason.

She was at the subway again, buying a ticket for a town far, far away. She would live there, start over. Start fresh. Forget about the man who called herself her father, and the demon and angel following her around.

Hymn awoke the next morning, in Chris' cave. She had fallen asleep there. She found she had been doing that a lot lately. She yawned and opened her eyes, sitting up and stretching. She looked around, and saw her drawing on the wall. She smiled slihgtly, and then looked around.

Ava was sitting downstairs, cleaning up her mess from the night before. The broken mug. She soon put the broken pieces in the trashcan, before sitting down on the couch in the living room. She yawned and stretched, looking up at the ceiling tiredly.

Elliot was in the underworld, looking for Tyler. Ellie had shown up again. She couldn't take it. She needed to talk to someone, and he was the only one she felt that she really could. But she was having problems finding him, and her wings were hurting her again.

She soon sat down, breathing heavily. Her wings hurt so much. She closed her eyes tightly, trying not to scream from the pain.

Lenora was at James' house, on the couch downstairs. She had her drawing on her lap again, but it was a blank page this time. She had kept the drawing of her father, but not with her. She was staring at the blank piece of paper, chewing on the tip of her eraser. She found herself briefly wondering where Dust was.

Cora had been haunted by the images of Carlisle's past the entire night. She kept seeing him die each time she closed her eyes. She had hardly slept at all. She was starting to doubt if she had even made the right decision by leaving. Each day it became harder and harder to tell.

Laurinda was at the park, swinging back and forth on the swing. She had a bag of pretzels in her lap, and was eating slowly. She was hungry, and having problems stealing lately. She had even gotten caught once, and they threatened to call the cops on her. While she was in the store, she had seen a calander. It was her birthday today. She was 16.

She knew that she should be happy, but to her it was just another day on the streets. It didn't matter that she was a year older.

"Happy birthday to me," She mumbled, eating another pretzel out of the bag in her lap.

Raven and Sable had made up; Sable was in heaven, looking for Jade to tell her. Raven was in the park, but on the other side so she didn't see Laurinda. She wasn't angry at Aden anymore, but didn't really like him either. She was drawing pictures in the dirt with a stick.

"You look tired..." Damon said as Carlisle walked down the stairs.

"Why are you even here?" Carlisle snapped. He was grouchy from lack of sleep, as he tried he remembered watching Cora burn and he jumped up again, unable to deal with the image.

"To pester you, you have no demon and until you are assigned I've decided to be your temporary stand-in." Damon said as he sat on the couch.

"Oh joy. Do I at least get a temporary angel to deal with you?" he asked.

"I think this Rose girl can handle it, I have never actually met her but she did deal with you so i think she can handle me." Damon said with a smile.

Mason was following her, invisable.

Dust was in heaven, looking forone of his sisters.

Jade was under the Crow tree. Like she said.

"How old are you?" Lance asked, as he came up behind her, Blake was with him.

Soon Ashlyn was the subway again. Her phone rang; it was her father. She pressed the 'ignore' button.

"I'm surprised he noticed already," She mumbled, pulling her hood up over her head again.

Laurinda jumped and spun around, falling off the swing as she did so. She landed with an 'oof!' on the ground. Her eyes widened when she recognzied Lance and Blake, and she quickly stood up.

"Um....16," She mumbled, gathering up the things that had fallen out of her bag, mostly bagged food that did nothing but hold her over. "What are you doing here?" She asked, looking at Lance.

Elliot closed her eyes tightly, biting her lip so hard she tasted blood. She soon forced herself to her feet and pushed on.

Sable soon came to the crow tree, and sat down next to her. "Hey," He said quietily.

Lenora suddenly began to draw, her pencil moving quickly, eyes focused.

"I was taking a walk." Lance said, helping her pick the stuff up. "You left the money."

"Hey." Jade said looking up at him. "Sorry, I had to drag you aginst your will."

"No problem," Sable said quietly. "I'm glad you did, actually," He said.

"On purpose," Laurinda mumbled under her breathe. She stood up, brushing a bit of dirt off of her clothes. "Look, I'm grateful for what you did for me before. Really, I am," She said. "But I can take care of myself." The dirt on her clothes and face, however, along with her small, frail body said otherwise.

Elliot closed her eyes, and soon the pain stopped. She had passed out.

Layla was with James, she left him alone for a while not feeling like annoying him at the moment.

George appeared in James' living room, he saw Lenora drawing but ignored her and walked upstairs.

Alice came out of her room and went downstairs. She sat on the couch and just staired at the floor.

"I'm sure you can," Lance said. "I just want to help." He said.

Jade smiled. "How it go?" She asked.

"Carlisle is there a demon in the hou-" Rose started to say before she saw Damon on the couch.

"Apparently we have met then." Damon said as he saw Rose, "Long time no see." he said with a smile

Rose blushed wildly as she saw him, he was the man that Rose had fallen for as a human. She had no clue what had happened to him, she didn't know he was a demon and was shocked. "Damon, I-" she tried to say something but nothing came out.

"Hello Rosie." Damon said with a smile as he stood up and bowed to Rose, "I've missed you." He took her hand lightly and kissed it briefly.

"You two know each other?" Carlisle asked but he was ignored by them both.

Laurinda frowned. "How? How could you?" She asked.

"Good," Sable said. "We made up. And it's all thanks to you," He said. "We had both just been avoididng each other for fear that the other was mad, when in truth, we had nothing to fear," He said. "So thank you."

Lenora frowned. "Hey!" She called after George. "Who are you?" She followed him up the stairs. "This house is getting overrun by demons lately..." She mumbled under her breathe.

Ashlyn got off at the next station, but was soon back on. She wouldn't stop until she was far away.

As she sat on the subway, she found her mind wandering. She wondered if Mason was next to her now. She opened one eye, but of course didn't see him. If he was there, he probably wouldn't let her see him.

James was in his room.

Lace smiled. "For starters; I can let you take a bath."

Jade smiled widely. "You're welcome."

Mason was right beside her.

Damon dropped her hand and stood up. He then sat back on the couch as if nothing had happened. He had kept many secrets in his life, one of them being that just like Carlisle he had fallen head over heels in love with someone. He had blocked away his feelings the day she died and hid them away from even himself. Seeing her again was astounding.

"How do you know Damon?!" Carlisle demanded of rose once she snapped out of her daze.

"He was my boyfriend..." Rose said shakily.

"Dear god I wish Cora was here to listen to this!" Carlisle shouted as he walked outside. "What the heck?!" he shouted to the sky

Laurinda didn't let him see how good that sounded. Instead, she frowned. "And what makes you think I'd even want to?" She asked, but she did. So much.

Sable leaned over and kissed her on the cheek quickly, still smiling at her.

Ashlyn felt tears coming to her eyes again, but she somehow managed to hold them back. She turned the music on her ipod up louder to drown out her thoughts.

"You are covered in dirt." Lance said

Jade smiled again. "I won't have to drag you next time, right?" She asked playfully

"So?" Laurinda asked. She put her bag on her shoulder, and couldn't help a small smile that came across her face.

"Nope," Sable said, smiling at her.

Rose sat down next to Damon, who mindlessly wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "When you died I didn't know what to do..." he told her.

"Well, really how could I have helped that one?" she asked.

"Not what I meant." Damon told her.

"I know." Rose said.

Damon leaned in and kissed her lightly, he tried to pull back but her hands wrapped around his neck to keep him there. She smiled and kissed him deeper.

Carlisle walked back in to find the two kissing and he was disgusted. He walked back outside and thought of ways to stop them.

"And you aren't discused? And you are still wearing Blake's clothes." Lance said.

Jade smiled at him. "Hey?" She asked. "Can I tech you how to fly now?"

Laurinda smiled slightly. "Kind of," she said. "But I don't want to be a burden."

Sable blinked in surprise, then slowly nodded. "Only if I can teach you how to swim later," He said with a small smile.

Ashlyn's breathing became slow and even; she had fallen asleep on the subway.

Raven kept drawing in the dirt, though her mind was wandering. She wanted to apologize to Aden, but she didn't really know where to find him.

"You are more of a burden if I can stop thinking about how dirty you are." Lance said

Jade smiled and stood up, pulling him to his feet.

Aden was in heaven, being bored.

Clara appeared next to Ashley.

"Um, you know, I don't really know what I'm doing," Sable said, standing up.

Slowly, Laurinda nodded. "Alright," she finally said. She wasn't really sure what she had just agreed to, though.

Raven frowned, and disappeared, reappearing in heaven.

"Aden!" She called. She had talked with Sable, and he wouldn't get mad if he saw her with him. But he had told her to be careful. She called his name again, louder this time. Heaven was a big place, after all.

Ashlyn mumbled something in her sleep, and awoke as the subway came to a stop. However, ten minutes later, she was back on another one, and asleep again. Ether touched her arm, giving her nightmares.

Rose's pendant began to glow but she hadn't realized it. "Rose, your necklace. You're charge needs you." Damon said after he pulled away.

"Oh. Right." Rose said as she disappeared and reappeared in Ashley's room beside Clara.

Ashley looked up at the two but said nothing.

Mason glared at the demon, and she went flying. How did he do that!?

Jade laughed. "Because you haven't learned yet, silly. Let me see your wings." She said.

Clara sighed. "You should be more on your gurad."

Lance smiled and started walking home.

Aden apeared next to her. "You rang?"

Ether cried out as she hit the other side of the train, making others look, but of course they did not see her. Ashlyn opened her eyes when she heard Ether, and frowned, seeing her on the ground. She knew Mason was here now.

Sable nodded, and soon he had his wings out; they were a light brown color, though he didn't know why.

Laurinda hesistaed for a moment before running after him.

"Um...how have you...been?" she asked.

Raven jumped, then turned to face him.

"Hi," She said simply. She was talking fast now, as she often did when she was nervous about something. "Look, I'm sorry about before, when I was blaming you. Turns out me and Sable were both just avoiding each other, and so it really wasn't your fault. I was being simple minded, and mean, and kind of a jerk, so I'm sorry." She said it all in one breathe, and very quickly, too.
