The Redbird's story.

Elliot and her mother were making dinner soon after, Elliot unusually silent.

Cora heard Blake in the hallway but continued to read, trying to ignore him.

Blake sat on his trunk.

Elliot and her mother ate silently, Elliot mostly picking at her food.

Cora sat on her bed.

*the next morning.*

It was the day were people came from the diffrent towns and far away places to sale things. This only happened for a week once a year. And today was the first day. It was kinda like a festval. Street preformers were also present.

Blake Sat up, and yawned.

Tyler opened an eye and saw Tally's golden hair. She had snuck in to his bed again.

Elliot was up early the next morning, sitting out by the lake with a blank expression on her face. The same expression she'd had ever since yesterday. She had been looking forward to going to the market with Tyler, but that was out of the question now.

Cora was outside doing chores so she could go to the market later.

Tyler walked up behind Elliot. "I said 'sould' not have to." He said simply.

Blake walked out of the house.

Elliot didn't turn around. Her face remained blank as she spoke.

"What do you mean?"

Cora looked up from her spot by the lake behind their house when Blake came out.

Tyler sat next to her. "I meant that I only said we souldn't be freinds, I didn't say we had to stop being freinds."

Blake looked t his sister.

"/Do/ you want to still be my friend?" Elliot asked sadly.

Cora looked away and continued her chores. She was hoping for some reason to maybe see Robert at the market today.

"No, I want to be more then just your freind." Tyler wanted to say.

"Yes, I do." He said instaed.

"Then why'd you say that??" Elliot asked sadly, pulling up a fistful of grass.

"I wanted you to know that fact," Tyler said.

Suddenly Elliot smiled and hugged him forcefully, accidentally knocking him over.

"I'm so glad you said that!" She exclaimed, still hugging him though she was on top of him. She realized what that must look like and quickly stood up, her stone face now grinning.

Tyler smiled up at his friend. Then he sighed. "But you will hve to stop doing that." He liked her hugs, he would miss them.

"Stop what? Hugging you?" Elliot asked.

"Hugging me and knocking me down." he said standing up. He was now even more taller then her.

Elliot prentended to pout.

"Fine," she said, standing up as well. "Hey, wanna go to the market later??" She asked him.

"I promised your mom I would keep an eye on you." Tyler said. "And I promised you a few days ago that I would take you."

"Oh yeah!" Elliot said. She stretched and smiled at him.

"Chores first." Tyler said.

"Yeah, yeah," Elliot mumbled, but was still smiling. "I'll meet you at your house when I'm done, then!" She said.

"Okay." Tyler said truning to leave.

Elliot ran back towards her house, in a much better mood now.

*about an hour later*

Blake stood up. "Are you ready?" He asked Cora

Tyler was waiting out side for Elliot, Tally hideing behind his legs.

Cora nodded.

"Yes," She said, standing up as well.

Elliot came outside and saw Tyler. She grinned. She saw Tally as well and smiled at her. She closed the door behind her and walked over to them.

"Hello!" She said happily.
